Island Harbour (pop. 225) or Harbour of Islands as it was known, was given its name because of its natural lay-out. The community is stretched out over 2 miles (3.22 km) bordering the shoreline.
Surrounding the outside of the harbour are many small islands scattered along the coast. The residents of Island Harbour fished mainly for cod, salmon and lobster. In the fall fisherpersons went out to Little Fogo Islands to do their fishing.
Island Harbour offers the following services and tourist attractions:
- 2 Churches
- Playground
- Post Office
- Black Head Cove (hiking trail & picnic site)
