Located at the end of a scenic 350 is Leading Tickles, a charming fishing village loaded with beautiful scenery and a rich history.
Leading Tickles is one of Central Newfoundland's best kept secrets. Every spring and summer huge icebergs ground themselves upon the shores, making for fabulous photo opportunities right from the shoreline! To witness an iceberg flounder is an awesome and unforgettable sight. Whales migrate from the south, icebergs drift south, and this is where they meet - a photographer's dream.
Ocean View Park offers a playground, campgrounds, BBQ kitchens, and 3 sandy beaches all with beautiful views of the ocean and the rugged coastline. Each summer the capelin roll upon our beaches in the thousands to spawn. The park boasts a well-groomed trail leading to Bear Cove Head where the view is just breathtaking.
The East Tickle Hiking Trail starts near the entrance of the Town. A few hundred meters along the trail provides the first great attraction: an abundance of red and pink, provided by the thousands of dogberries and fireweed plants. This is truly a treat for the eyes and presents an ideal photo opportunity. The trail extends along a beach filled with driftwood and shells, into a wooded area. A family of Newfoundland Ponies lives here and the male, female and young colt frequent the trail, providing another excellent opportunity for photographs, as well as video.
The beauty of the area, the rugged coastline, and the breathtaking sites of nature are what make Leading Tickles a must to visit. Come and experience our culture and our hospitality in Leading Tickles.
