Peterview's recorded history dates back to the time of the Beothuck Indians. John Peyton, a name synonymous with the capture of Demasduit (Mary March) built the first house here in the 1790's.
The town's population grew in the 1800's with the construction of a french sawmill. Logging and lumbering became the main industries and they remain prevalent today.
Peterview has a population of 862 and is centrally located off route 350 (Botwood Highway), only 13 km from the Trans Canada Highway at Bishop's Falls. The shipping port of Botwood is at our back door.
Peterview is a quiet residential town. For recreation we offer a playground, softball field and community social centre. We have grocery and convenience stores (some with craft supplies and finished products), a post office and gas station. Other shopping facilities, schools, hospital, arena and swimming pool are located in the nearby Town of Botwood.
