Point Leamington

Attractions & Services
in Point Leamington
Scenic Point Leamington located in the Exploits Valley Newfoundland

On scenic Route 350, just a short, beautiful drive from Northern Arm, lies the historic town of Point Leamington. Situated on the shore of Southwest Arm, extending southward from Notre Dame Bay on the province's Northeast Coast, the Town is long and narrow and follows the length of the arm, hugging the shoreline. Point Leamington is a successful town. The people who live here enjoy the outdoors, where two rivers provide recreational salmon fishing, hunting, boating and snowmobiling.

At the entrance to Point Leamington, Rowsell's Hill Nature Trail starts near the mouth of Mill River, next to the newly established heritage centre, which provides the tourist with a taste of the town's rich history. The trail is heavily forested with both coniferous and deciduous tree cover and is ideal for the hiking and nature enthusiast. Stairs up Rowsell's Hill, and strategically placed boardwalks, assist the hiker along the way. Lookouts with spectacular views are placed at the top of the climb and make the challenge one well worth-while. The trail offers the tourist an opportunity to experience nature at it's finest.

For the tourist looking for a more leisurely walk, Otter Pond Walking trail is located at the north end of town. The trail is about 60% boardwalk, the remaining being natural (gravel and pebbles). Otter Pond Trail is very easy to walk due to the low number of steps and slopes, The habitat is forested, bog and aquatic. The beautiful scenery, the swimming and picnic area, the bird-watching experience, and the chance to see otters in their natural environment, all provide for an educational and fun day for the whole family.

Point Leamington is a very restful place. We invite you to come and experience our lifestyle, our culture, and our heritage.
