Located on route 362, Pool's Cove is a quaint relatively isolated community nestled on the North West shores of Belle Bay near the mouth of the Bay du Nord Heritage River. Predominantly an inshore fishing community one will fine the shoreline dotted with fish sheds and dories.
Named for its first inhabitant's, the Poole's, Pool's Cove's population remained relatively low until the early 1890's when a population boom resulted from an emerging lobster industry and subsequent packaging factory. In the early years the area was used as a summer residence. Later these residents began to stay year round. The founding names of the community include, Bambury, Caines, Marshall, Miles, Perhams, Quirk, Savoury, and Williams. In 1969 the community earned its place on the map of Newfoundland.
Today Pool's Cove posts a population of approximately 240 many of whom continue to be reliant on both the traditional and lobster fisheries.
A passenger ferry connects Pool's Cove to the Burin Peninsula via the Isolated Community of Rencontre East. While visiting the community one can avail of the services of a local Bed and Breakfast.
