Located on Newfoundland's South West Coast, Seal Cove is approximately 210 km from the Trans Canada Highway along Routes 360 and 364. The community is completely level with a few hills providing a scenic backdrop.
Seal Cove was settled in 1838 by Joseph Loveless. The areas rich soil for gardening and raising animals, plus its proximity to good fishing grounds was the primary reasons for settling. The community is predominantly Salvation Army with the first church being built in the early 1900s. In addition to fishing, in the past many from seal cove participated in the forestry industry, surprising considering the communities distance from any major timber stands. Today a granite quarry is visible as you head towards Seal Cove.
Travel the surrounding area and explore resettled communities of Grole and Pass Island, the many fishing holes and great berry picking.
